An ‘Internet Protocol’ camera, or IP camera, is a type of digital video camera commonly employed for surveillance and which unlike analogue closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras can send and receive data via a computer network and the Internet. There are two kinds of IP cameras:
Centralised IP cameras
These require a central Network Video Recorder (NVR) to manage the recording, video and alarm management of the IP CCTV system.
HD Zoom CameraDecentralised IP cameras
The HD Zoom Camera Decentralised IP Cameras do not require a central Network Video Recorder (NVR), as the cameras have an ‘in-built’ recording function and can therefore record directly to local storage media, such as flash drives, hard disk drives and to networks.

Our Control Centre partner utilises ‘High Definition Stream Management’ (HDSM) video management system, which delivers reliable full situation awareness, in indisputable detail, allowing for timely and effective response to an incident.
Data Protection and Storage Management
Redundant recording to multiple NVRs allows a full live mirror of all high definition visuals. Automatic fail-over NVRs ensure uninterrupted recording if an NVR becomes unavailable. Integrated backup and restore functionality allow for recorded HD visuals from multiple cameras to be securely transferred from an NVR on a defined scheduled. Restored HD video can be imported to a different NVR for instant playback of archived visuals. Further storage capacity and taper archived surveillance visuals can be further expanded utilising HDSM Data Aging process.
